JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Electrical Engineer will design, develop, and test the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for customized automated production equipment.
Provide support to Field Service organization for equipment in the field.
Provide support to Sales organization in evaluating proposed new equipment.
Work as part of a multifunctional design team (including other engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Optical, Software, Test and Systems Engineering) to conceive, specify, and design custom solutions to customer automation requirements
Will provide technical content and project leadership/direction of multifunctional design teams on some assigned projects.
Maintains ownership responsibility for assigned equipment designs from initial concept through detailed design, test, installation and support.
Design functions include control system layout, component selection, system schematics, power distribution, computer interfaces, I/O systems, BOM documentation, subsystem test specifications, etc.
Responsible for selection of components and assemblies to perform required functions – computers, servo stages, sensors, etc.
Will lead (Conceptual, Preliminary, and Final) Design Reviews for assigned projects, with participation from all engineering disciplines, to help validate concept, detail design, and documentation package prior to engineering release.
Applies the knowledge and techniques of advanced mathematics and electrical engineering planning, developing, and designing electrical systems and/or components.
Ensures compliance with applicable standards and guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS
BS in Electrical Engineering required; MS in Electrical Engineering preferred
Minimum of 8 years of increasingly complex and demanding electrical engineering work experience.
Broad knowledge of motor controllers, stepper motors, servo motors, linear and rotary encoders, motor sizing, servo tuning and automation/industrial controls. Experience with Aerotech controllers required.
Demonstrated proficiency with PLCs, ladder logic, C and Dynamic C.
Proficient use of AutoCAD Electrical, plus analytical tools necessary to support design efforts.
Strong technical/scientific skills including DOE, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, 6 Sigma, and application of Pareto, 5Ys, 6Ms, and DMAIC.
