Our client, who's headquarters is in Detroit, MI,  has global manufacturing facilities and is focused on the design, manufacturing and integration of automated assembly equipment. Their end users are non-automotive as well as OEM and Tier 1 suppliers. They are seeking a General Manager for an Expat Assignment to provide leadership and vision for their German subsidiary.  This is a unique position that will be responsible for developing and managing the Company's business strategy and interests in Europe.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the overall planning of engineering and manufacturing to meet customer requirements and to insure maximum utilization of personnel and facilities.
  • Direct the development of departmental budgets and plans required to ensure effective operation of Engineering, Material and Manufacturing Departments.
  • Ensure operating departmental activities are carried out at minimum cost and following established policies and procedures.
  • Direct the use of accounting procedures within his realm of responsibilities.
  • Ensure that all products manufactured meet the customer’s quality requirements.
  • Provide direction and supervision of Operations Department’s activities.
  • Ensure that products are shipped in accordance with schedules prepared by the Project Manager.
  • Direct the personnel management activities based on guidelines established by top management.
  • Supervise clerical/administrative staff. 
  • Provide assistance to Proposal and Estimation Department as required.
  • Provide proper departmental staffing within guidelines established by top management.
  • Conduct weekly production meeting.
  • Execute the general responsibilities common to all executive and supervisory positions.
Background Profile
  • Proven ability to promote team collaboration, and foster professional development/growth in personnel.
  • 5+ years experience in industrial automation
  • Educational / Training:  Advanced engineering degree plus business degree preferred.
  • Fluent in German.
